Seat Ibiza mk3

The Seat Ibiza model is represented by two modifications - 3- and 5-door hatchbacks. In addition, a 4-door Cordoba sedan was built on its basis, although we will not consider it. In general, these small cars were created on the PQ24 platform, which has become common for a number of B-class models of the VW concern: Polo, Skoda Fabia and the hero of our material. All these cars have the same power engines, gearboxes, chassis and some interior details.

Unlike soplatform models, Ibiza looks more dynamic, which corresponds to the "hot" image of the Seat brand. After 4 years from the start of production, the “Spaniard” has undergone restyling - the updated versions can be externally distinguished by new, more expressive front and rear bumpers.

The “hot” image is emphasized by round interior details, scarlet-red instrument lighting, a 3-spoke steering wheel and the central part of the dashboard turned towards the driver. There are no complaints about the quality of the finish, but there are some equipment.

Ibiza bodies are resistant to corrosion. Problems can only arise with the trunk lid lock drive (see "Weaknesses"). A feature of the ergonomics of the body is that the doorways are low, so when landing, especially on the front seats, you can hit your head on the roof. Landing on the back row of “three-doors” is also inconvenient, which, however, is inherent in all such modifications of the car.

Weaknesses of the car

In Ibiza engines with a volume of 1.4 and 1.8T, failures of individual ignition coils were noted.

Due to the ingress of dust and dirt, the trunk lid lock drive cokes over time, and the emblem, which is also the drive handle, remains in the open position.

The rear drum mechanisms (version 1.4 l) periodically (on average every 60 thousand km) require preventive cleaning. The signal will be a creak when braking.

Suspension

Compared to competitors, the running Ibiza is more knocked down. But due to a different design of silent blocks of levers and low-profile tires, the suspension of the Sport and FR versions is stiffer than that of the 1.4-liter modifications. Thanks to this, the "hot" Ibiza have excellent driving characteristics.
